Hardy Water Lilies come in a rainbow of colors and are the backbone of
most any pond or water garden. Hardy lilies
are potted in heavy dirt, not potting soil (potting soil is for house plants and will float out of the pot in the pond).
They can go anywhere from 6 to 24 inches deep in the water. Here in zone 7 I have mine 36 inches deep and they do fine.
Hardy Water Lilies are hardy in zone 3 or higher. They flower May through September,
depending on your zone. Color or variety does not affect hardiness; all colors and sizes are the same hardiness.
Lilies are available in dwarf, medium and large growing varieties, size refers to the leaf and flower size.
Lilies are shipped bare root and will need to be potted upon arrival. The tubers can be safely floated in clean, de-chlorinated water until you are ready to plant them.
What we do is pot them, add water to the top of the pot and let them set for a few weeks in a warm sunny place for the tuber to root. This insures un-rooted tubers will not float out of the pond.
You will need Pond Tabs (found under the supply menu option) so if you do not have any on hand you will need to order them at the same time as you place your order. I cannot add them to an order once your order is placed and paid for.
